CLA Safflower Oil for Weight Loss
Is CLA Safflower Oil something that you should give a try in hopes of helping you lose more fat and become leaner, more fit? CLA, for those unaware, stands for conjugated linoleic acid and it is a mix of fatty acids with a similar structure as linoleic acid. There are multiple forma or variants of conjugated linoleic acid and you can tell them apart by their names which are given to them based on the structure or composition, their chemical bonds. The CLA that you should be looking for in supplements are two: “c9, t11” and “t10, c12”. These are the best in terms of quality and efficacy.
If there is one thing that CLA Safflower Oil has over other ingredients used often by dietary weight loss supplements, it's the fact that it has a lot more science behind it and we know a lot more about it as opposed to the herbal extracts that you often see used in dietary supplements.
CLA Safflower Oil is definitely not perfect and study results are actually really mixed.
Unfortunately, even though some studies were successful and showed that individuals taking CLA in certain dosages experienced more fat loss, other studies show that it made no difference in body composition or fat percentage. Also CLA in some studies on men showed that it can help with muscle growth and catabolism as well as endurance but again, in some other studies the results were different. What we can take from this is that although it can work, it seems to be quite unreliable and it must pe used in a specific dose in order to have potency. It also depends on the individual and dieting plus physical activity is required for good results or noticeable differences. Also please note that long term supplementation of various forms of CLA can cause, in some cases, harm to health, such as increasing oxidative stress and the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Even the healthiest food or drug or chemical can be found toxic or harmful when abused, keep that in mind. Consult with your medic if you do decide to use CLA supplementation to lose fat or perform better physically.
